“A few more thoughts…& a recipe for ‘Sunny Pesto Pasta’.”

♥Hi Friends!

Here’s a few more thoughts on this natural, organic, and HEALING form of skin care.

♥THERE IS AN ADJUSTMENT PERIOD: And adjustments can be painful.

  • You are creating a new wrinkle in your brain.  The items we’ve discussed in the last few posts may look, smell and feel completely different than what you are using now to HEAL your skin and it may seem strange.  I know it did for me.   The first time I sat in the bottom of my tub and slathered honey of my face I felt goofier than all get out.  And then the smoothie.  Bahahahaha!  I had this smirky smile on my face, almost as if I was embarrassed, like someone was watching me try out this strange new skin care ritual.  So, be patient.  There’s definitely some adjusting needed on your part when using these amazing new products.
  • It takes time to get in to a routine.  Over time, you’ll figure out what works best for you.  I’ve given some suggestions that have worked for me, and although these HEALING products work for everyone, what that looks like for you exactly is for you to decide.
  • Always keep in mind that HEALING is usually a slow process.  It doesn’t happen overnight.  I’ve been doing this for about a year now and my skin is improving and continues to improve all the time.  Among many of the good things happening with my skin, I love that the dark circles around my eyes (from sun damage) are slowly brightening and going away.
  • You are starting or speeding up the detoxification process.  Breakouts may occur while these new products detoxify and bring all the bad stuff hanging out in your skin to the surface.

♥ACNE: It’s a part of life and there are many reasons for it.  Because of that, I’ve decided to dedicate and entire post about it at a later date.  Sadly, we are somewhat experts at this very annoying subject here at our home, if only through experience!

♥MORE MATURE SKIN: Since starting this about a year ago, I’ve been working on reversing the effects of the previous 45 years of disease and poor choices.  And disease, brought about from my poor choices, did a number on my skin.  So, here’s a few suggestions for those of us with aging, congested, uneven, and generally poor and UNHEALTHY skin that will help speed up the HEALING process a little. (Although, these suggestions are great for anyone with damaged or UNHEALTHY skin  of any age.)

  • Since I love my Aloe Vera with Citrus Bliss essential oil in it, my face gets its a little dose of vitamin C for the day.  But, since more would be beneficial, at some point during my skin care routine I use a few drops of a citrus oil like lemon, grapefruit, orange or more Citrus Bliss.  Usually when I moisturize at night.
  • Along with my moisturizer, I like to use “Cosmesis Skin Care Resveratrol Anti-Oxidant Serum” by LifeExtension.  Reveratrol is an antioxidant.  Just a small drop is all you need so this bottle lasts a long time.  You Can read about its benefits by clicking here.
  • I also use a drop of this “VoilaVe 100% Pure Low & High Molecular (HL) Hyaluronic Acid Serum”.  Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the body but decreases as we’re older.  It nourishes and hydrates the collagen in our skin.  Click here to read up on its benefits.

No matter whether you are younger, middler (like me), or older, you will benefit from starting this natural form of skin care.  It’s absolutely amazing!  And it’s never too late to start HEALING!

♥Love you!

Here’s another pesto pasta recipe that adds the benefits of tomatoes to the already HEALING power of this dish.  Tomatoes are antioxidant rich along with the phytochemical lycopene.  Yum!  Yum!  Yum!  My family loves this one and it whips up soooo quickly.

SUNNY PESTO PASTA

  • 1 lb whole grain pasta
  • ½ cup sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil (Add 2 Tbsp of avocado or extra virgin olive oil if the tomatoes don’t come with it.)
  • 1 cup basil
  • ¼ cup purified water
  • ¼ cup raw almonds
  • ¼ cup raw pine nuts
  • 2 cloves garlic, with skins
  • ¼-½ lemon, all of it, chopped
  • 1 tsp Real Salt or ½ tsp sea salt*
  • dash of paprika
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese (optional)**
  • ½ lb mushrooms
  • ‘Real Salt’ & pepper

Cook pasta according to directions.  While noodles are cooking, place all but mushrooms in food processor in order listed and process until smooth.  Slice and cook mushrooms on low, pouring off liquid, until cooked.  When noodles are done, place in large bowl with sauce and mushrooms and toss until they are coated.  Salt and pepper to taste.

*This probably isn’t enough salt but I like to let others decide how much they like after they’ve dished it up.

**This dish completely stands alone without the parmesan cheese.

Got this big guy at ‘COSTCO’.  Sundried tomatoes can be pricey so watch for them and stock up because they come and go!
