“HEALING with Mother Nature: Part 1-SUN…& a recipe for ‘Maple Garlic Brussels Sprouts’.”

♥Hi Friends!

Just about one official month of summer left and I have neglected to get out my Sun & Earth posts!  And for those of us who live in a four seasons’ climate, we will soon have a harder time getting our daily dose of the great outdoors.  Unless of course this Fall and Winter are anything like last year’s here in Utah.  Beeeeeeeeautiful!  (I love Winter, and the beautiful snow, but I’m not gonna lie.  I kind of enjoyed not scraping off my windows and sidewalks as much as the previous years!)

As I’ve mentioned in earlier posts, I try everyday to get outside on my grass for some quality time with Mother Nature.  (Heavenly Father has provided her with all sorts of amazing HEALING properties that HEAL us SPIRITUALLY, PHYSICALLY and EMOTIONALLY.  Totally awesome!)  And since I don’t like to get hot, I lay in the shade under one of my trees, with spatterings of sun poking through the branches.  Sometimes when I sit tall with my legs crossed, I can literally feel my spine elongate and my posture become taller and stronger.  It’s totally trippy!  And cool!  (It’s a great time to read scriptures too.  Lots of good energy making for an open SPIRIT and MIND!)  I try to get at least 20 minutes in, but more if possible.  And I like to make it a family affair as often as I can.   My kids are getting to be pretty good little hippies.  And what a better way to spend time with my grandbabies, outside, barefoot, HEALING!  So if you haven’t made this a practice yet, please, please, please get out and get your Sun and Earth every day that you can!  Since they are both so important, they get their own post.  Today’s is Sun.

So what’s so great about the Sun?  Not only does the Sun have HEALING energy that radiates from it (all God’s creations do), but a HEALTHY person, who gets enough Sun during the warmer months, should build up enough Vitamin D stores to last throughout the colder months when we receive less of the Sun’s exposure.  Heavenly Father made us that way.  Sweet, huh!?!

The sun is our best, greatest, most efficient, and cheapest (free) source of Vitamin D.  Vitamin D is vital for good HEALTH.  In fact, it’s so important that I’m gonna spend one whole post on Vitamin D at a later date.  It’s that crucial!  For now, click here for a great article on the benefits of what many call the happy “sunshine” vitamin.  Trust me on this though.  I feel happier, HEALTHIER, and have more energy when I get sun exposure.  Everyone does!  It elevates mood, raises your immunity fighting power, and actually reduces risks of cancer.  “Cancer” you say?  Yup.  It’s true.

By the way, the Sun doesn’t give us wrinkles or skin cancer.  It’s our UNHEALTHY lifestyles and the toxins we take in on a daily basis that hinder our body’s ability to handle sun exposure.  But HEALTHY lifestyles will not shield us from sunburns, so I do like to wear sunscreen when I’m out for long periods of time, like swimming, hiking, boating, etc.  Just make sure you choose a sunscreen that isn’t full of toxic and unnecessary chemicals (and most over the counter, grocery store sunscreens are full of them).  Alba and Kiss My Face are two brands that you can get online or at any HEALTH food store.  They cost a little more, but you don’t need to wear it all the time.  So drink lots of green smoothies, get rid of the toxins in your life, and don’t be afraid of a little sun.  It’s a HEALER!

♥Love you!

I love most veggies. I wouldn’t say Brussels Sprouts are my favorite, but making them this way makes these babies taste like candy! Yuuuummmmmmmy!  And so good for you!
