“Why do SPIRITUAL practices HEAL?…& a recipe for ‘Katie’s Armpit Paste’.”

♥Hi Friends!

Why do SPIRITUAL practices HEAL us SPIRITUALLY, PHSICALLY and EMOTIONALLY?  You know, things like prayer, scripture study, and accessing the Atonement through repentance and forgiveness.  I’ve been thinking about that question a lot lately and I have a couple of ideas/answers I’d like to share.

1♥ THEY BRING US CLOSER TO THE SPIRIT, TO THE LIGHT  With my eye issues, I have a hard time seeing in the dark and seeing details.  (Although those issues are slowly improving!)  One of the things that helps me the most to see better is light.  I use lots of bright light bulbs in my home and I like to turn on all of the overhead lights on the main floor in the morning when I come downstairs.  (And my #5 likes to turn them all off behind me!)  I’m amazed how much better I can read small print, see details, and see things I need to take care of.  The Spirit is our light.  (And that light is actual HEALING energy.)  And he is the thing that helps us the most to see better!  When we make SPIRITUAL practices a part of our lives, it’s like turning on lots of bright light bulbs, and then we have greater access to that light.  Then we can “see better”, or discern, the whisperings from the Spirit that lead us to the answers that will HEAL us and our families SPIRITUALLY, PHYSICALLY and EMOTIONALLY.

2♥ THEY DETOXIFY SIN- The way I see it, the only SPIRITUAL toxin is sin, in any of it’s actual PHYSICAL ‘negative energy’ forms.  And it creates SPIRITUAL, PHYSICAL, and EMOTIONAL disease.  Remember that to rid ourselves of disease we must detoxify and replenish

SPIRITUAL practices detoxify the negative toxic energy and replenish with positive SPIRITUAL energy.  Examples:  I am so grateful that when we access the Atonement we can repent and forgive, which allows us to release the negative (sadness, pain, stress, sins) to our Savior.  He takes it from us and replenishes us with the postive (light, love, humility, compassion.)  The same thing happens with our Heavenly Father when we pray.  And when we read our scriptures we are putting positive in and crowding the negative out.  And that actual PHYSICAL energy (from our SPIRITUAL practices) HEALS us SPIRITUALLY, PHYSICALLY and EMOTIONALLY.

In the end, light reminds us of who we are and Whose we are.  Then we remember once again, no matter what, that we are not alone.

♥Love you!

P.S.  A Gallup survey reveals religious people score higher in HEALTH self-evaluations.  (Except in PHYSICAL HEALTH but we already talked about that in an earlier post!)

Deodorant is one of those PHYSICAL toxins that we use every day.  Do you know how awful the store bought ones are for you?  Have you ever looked at the ingredients in them?  Why would we put metal and all sorts of other chemicals on our bodies that get in to our system and can cause things like breast cancer, Alzheimer’s, and all kinds of other problems?

And another thing.  Don’t be afraid of sweating!  That’s our body’s way of detoxing.  When we plug up the hair follicles in our armpits with toxic deodorants (so we won’t sweat), we trap the toxins our bodies are trying to get rid of and they find a nice, comfortable place to hang out.  Our lymph nodes!  Remember,  one of the ways our lymphatic system releases toxins is through sweating.  The great thing is, the healthier you are, the less you have to detox, and the less BO (and yellow armpit stains on your clothes that we’ll talk about it a later post) you will have.

I’ve never had much luck with the safe or organic ones that you can buy either.  But looking around I found that Heavenly Father has all that we need to DIY (do it yourself) for cheap that works!  (Once again I couldn’t stand to pay such a ridiculous price for something that I could make at home.)  The coconut and argan oils soothe.  The essential oils and baking soda help kill bacteria.  And the arrowroot and ‘Redmond Clay’ help neutralize the toxins excreted from your armpits.  They also help with irritation that can occur from baking soda on the skin.  This will harden in the cold and soften in the heat (just like coconut oil does) depending on the temp of your home.  Maybe one day I’ll figure out a deodorant that you can put in a deodorant stick.  But why?  So then again, maybe not.  But for now, here’s my version of some totally awesome armpit paste!

KATIE’S ARMPIT PASTE

Place ingredients in bowl and mix with wire whisk until smooth.  (If your coconut oil is hard just keep stirring and it will soften up.)  Spoon in to 8 oz. jar.  (I save my 8 oz. size ‘Better Than Bouillon’ jars and use them, and this recipe goes right to the top.)  You only need about 1 tsp per armpit.

Hint:  You can make this in bigger batches, put in their individual containers, and store in the refrigerator.

Hint:  If it’s exposed to warm temperatures and melts quite a bit, just put in a cool place and once it starts to harden you can mix any ingredients that have separated.

*Make sure you use the pure baking soda (not ‘Arm & Hammer’) and arrowroot (in place of corn starch) in personal care items.  ‘Bob’s’ is high quality and you can use both of these products when cooking.
