“My Journey to Total Dependence…& a recipe for ‘Easy Pasta’.”

♥Hi Friends!

I want to tell you about my journey from dependence (on toxins from medications, food, and UNHEALTHY emotional thought patterns) to independence from them, which lead me to recognize my need for total dependence on my Heavenly Father, for all answers (SPIRITUAL, PHYSICAL and EMOTIONAL) that would help me HEAL from the aforementioned dependence.  (Did that make sense?  I hope I haven’t lost anyone yet!)  After all, all light, truth and HEALING comes from Him.

I mean seriously!  Talk about high maintenance!   I was tired of taking my mess of prescriptions and over-the-counter meds, etc, etc, with me whenever I left town.  I was constantly worrying about eating too late (which caused middle of the night potty trips) and being near a bathroom in case my digestion went South (which it did on a regular basis).  Or feeling overwhelmed and constantly needing a nap every day from the lack of energy (from a BODY full of toxins).  And what if a natural disaster happened and I was cut off from my contacts and meds and I couldn’t see and my blood pressure skyrocketed and my thyroid wacked out!  And here’s one, waking my husband in the middle of the night when we went camping, to pee, on account of hormonal imbalances considered “normal” as we women get older.  Poor guy.  I needed him with me because I couldn’t see without contacts in, and because the dark is scary, and bears might eat me, and skunks could spray me!  And these examples just scratch the surface.  I really could go on and on.  I know.  I’m a mess.

Will any of us attain perfect SPIRITUAL, PHYSICAL and EMOTIONAL HEALTH in this life?  Never.  But can we have a “perfect brightness of hope”?  Absolutely!  And although I didn’t understand it at the time, that desire for independence (which I believe was fueled by the Spirit) was and continues to lead me down a lighted path where I have witnessed miraculous HEALING in myself, my family, and others.

In all reality, I use to live a life of fear, which is the absence of faith.  It’s very apparent to me now that I didn’t understand or know how to draw upon the HEALING power from our Father in Heaven and the Atonement.  Power that can rescue all of us from SPIRITUAL, PHYSICAL and EMOTIONAL sicknesses.  If we choose.

I got to spend some time with a dear friend this week.  She has struggled with (but is slowly HEALING from) PHYSICAL and EMOTIONAL HEALTH issues much of her life.  As we were talking about our HEALING journeys, she related an experience she’d had early on, shortly after she was first married.  Through the gift of the Spirit, it was made clear to her that all the answers she would need to HEAL, came from the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  And that is true for all of us.

My journey of total dependence on my Heavenly Father is not over.  Not by a long shot!  The natural man (or woman) keeps getting in the way.  (Blast that natural man!)  But I feel so grateful, and at times my joy is full to overflowing, to be learning just how broad the scope of His HEALING power is!

♥Love you!

I’m not always good at meal planning.  You know those times when you have NO idea what you’re going to eat for dinner and you really haven’t had time to even think about it?  This is one of my easy “go-to” HEALTHY meals.  And I generally always have the ingredients on hand.  I serve it with a ‘DINNER SMOOTHIE’ (first stage of ‘SMOOTHIE IN STAGES’) and everyone’s happy!  I love it when that happens.

EASY PASTA

  •  1 lb penne (or penne-ish) whole grain pasta*, cooked according to directions
  • 1 jar pasta or spaghetti sauce (with as few ingredients as possible that you can recognize), heated up
  • 1 large handful of spinach, chopped
  • 1 lb mushrooms, sliced and cooked (if I have them)
  • fresh basil, chopped (optional)
  • just a little grated parmesan cheese

Place chopped spinach (and basil if adding) in large bowl and pour hot pasta, hot sauce, mushrooms on top.  Combine.  Top each serving with a little grated parmesan if desired.

*There’s a big package of organic pasta at Costco, consisting of varying shapes of penne-ish type noodles.  Although the flour is not whole grain, we seem to tolerate it well since it’s a high quality organic product.
